What is CyberCity?Connecting High School to JMU College of BusinessJMU's College of Business' Computer Information Systems program seeks to recruit the best and brightest students in Virginia. CyberCity supports this goal by working hand-in-hand with high school technology teachers to identify, enrich, and encourage their best and brightest students to pursue technology-related careers at JMU. Diversity InitiativeJMU's College of Business is committed to providing a diverse academic community. We feel strongly that an understanding of diversity in the workplace is vital to business success. High schools invited to participate in CyberCity were identified by JMU as containing under-represented populations, thus increasing our opportunity to reach and serve those that are not traditionally pursuing a college education. RecognitionThe Shenandoah Valley Technology Council recognized CyberCity in 2009 with its Innovation in Higher Education Award. The Shenandoah Valley Technology Council is a non-profit membership organization serving the greater Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Its members are creators and users of technology who gather together for education, networking and business development. ABET, formerly the Accrediting Body for Engineering and Technology, recognized CyberCity in 2008 with its President's Award for Diversity. ABET provides world leadership in assuring quality and in stimulating innovation in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology education.
